Pioneering a Unique Experience

In the 1970s, ex-crocodile hunter Stefan Sebesken founded Stefan’s River Safaris on the Adelaide River, pioneering the concept of jumping crocodile cruises. He captivated tourists by feeding a crocodile named Shonky, who would leap from the water to catch food, laying the foundation for today’s iconic wildlife attraction.

Connecting Culture and Nature

Around 2005, the Arirrki Aboriginal Corporation of Groote Eylandt acquired Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruises, seizing a unique opportunity to expand onto the mainland and share their distinctive culture with the Northern Territory. This acquisition allowed them to offer visitors an authentic and respectful experience of the Adelaide River’s ecosystem.

Pioneering a Unique Experience

Today, Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruises operates from Beatrice Hill Farm, near the Windows on the Wetlands Visitor Centre. Guests can enjoy a scenic drive through the Adelaide River floodplains, often spotting water buffalo, cattle, and wading birds along the way. The company’s commitment to safety and ethical wildlife interactions ensures that visitors can witness the power of wild saltwater crocodiles in their natural habitat, just as Stefan Sebesken first envisioned decades ago.
