Our Jumping Crocodile Cruise

Our cruise boats have hosted many of the world’s best media, from the film crews of a very well known english gentlemen, world famous for his wildlife documentaries, celebrities, and of course the important every day regular guests that make up the bulk of our tours.

Tours running daily at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

We don’t have minimum numbers on our cruises, so you can be sure that our cruises will always go out. (Check seating availability on our website, we do sell out!) We only close Christmas day, and our causeway entrance is well above the surrounding floodplain, meaning we are not as affected by bad weather as other cruise companies.

Come and see why we are the preferred crocodile cruise option for tour groups from across the globe.

About Us

Jumping crocodile cruises on the Adelaide River as we know them today were begun in the 1970s with Stefan’s River Safaris, started by ex-croc hunter Stefan Sebesken when he began to take tourists onto the river on his boat, the Daniella. Stefan entertained his tour guests with his resident crocodile pal, Shonky, by feeding him from his boat and jetty, eventually realising that Shonky was able to jump out of the water for food. Stefan’s River Safaris operated from the area where the current public boat ramp is today, next to the Adelaide River bridge.

This paved the way for crocodile cruises as we know them today on the Adelaide River, and have become an iconic attraction for the Top End, thanks to Stefan and Shonky!

Arirrki Aboriginal Corporation of Groote Eylandt purchased Spectacular Crocodile Cruises around 2005 from the previous owner who had ties to Groote Eylandt. Our Neniyuwangkwa (Old man, clan patriarch), Abel Lalara seized the unique opportunity to expand their reach onto the mainland and share their equally unique culture with the rest of the NT.

Built for the Adelaide River

We have two different custom-made vessels for safe, up close, and personal viewing of the crocodiles in the Adelaide River. This allows us to tailor your cruise experience to the best boat for the conditions. Both of our boats offer the best viewing experience on the river with outward-facing seating, meaning That no matter where you sit, your view is of the river and the action, not the back of someone’s head!

Private charters are available on any of our vessels.

Croc-Cat1

Purpose-built specifically for our cruises, by one of the best multi-hull boat designers in the world. Its unique stadium-style seating means you’re facing the action, and will always get the best view available. With the boat skipper standing behind you at the rear of the boat, you can be assured that someone is always watching our passengers and looking after your safety, whilst our expert jumper is in front of you handling the animal interactions.

Wildcat

The sports car option of the Adelaide River. Its smaller seating capacity, facing out to the action, means you’ll always get the best view. Its smaller size means your tour feels a little bit more intimate and special. With at least two crew on board, you can be assured of your safety. Wildcat allows us to get further down the river and introduce you to the wilds of the Adelaide River floodplains.
